Telling people's stories, because they matter.

Telling people's stories, because they matter.

Building a home for the stories that deserve to be told – about real people, living real life.

Matrescence Media

is an independent media and production company inspired by over a decade of sitting with people inside of life’s biggest thresholds.

Our vision is informed by the understanding that naming our experiences creates space to expand and transform — and that the most powerful way to build a better world is by knowing each other.

Matrescence

Coined by anthropologist Dana Louise Raphael in 1973 to give language to the profound, irreversible transition into motherhood, not unlike adolescence. She also gave us the word doula.

Her work led her to the core belief that the encounters which fundamentally transform our identities — physiologically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and beyond — deserve recognition.

Our founders have been in lifelong contact with the edges of human existence: as birthworkers, healthcare professionals, people leaders, organizers, and dot connectors.

They’ve found that matrescence holds a mirror to the deeper meanings of life. There are times when we must simply - let it all fall apart.

These are our becomings.

There is great power in being witnessed while in-process — not advised, not managed, not saved or hurried through — but met.

Matrescence Media is about creating space for people to be witnessed, and their stories received.

This exchange becomes the container that allows people to discover their power.

This is
how we alchemize.
